When it comes to rectangular watches the JLC Reverso and the Cartier Tank would be the most popular options, however now Oris is stepping up and while it might not be challenging the Reverso or the Tank it is definitely its own distinct watch line for Oris. Oris is unveiling four new colourways with this range and each comes with a different colour leather strap.
While Jaeger-LeCoultre is not the only watchmaker that is working with Mr Porter to celebrate their 10-year anniversary, they certainly have some of the best watches. Mr Porter has decided to work with 10 different watchmakers from the likes of Vacheron Constantin, IWC, Cartier, Oris, Baume & Mercier and of course Jaeger-LeCoultre. Each watch has a different city engraved on the reverse side and each one will be limited to 10 pieces worldwide.
There is a design code at Grand Seiko known as the “Grand Seiko Style”, which is a set of nine principles that Grand Seiko follows that gives a distinctive look and is used to inspire every new creation. In 1967 the Grand Seiko 44GS was the first watch that embodied this very style and now 55 years later, it is being commemorated with the SBGJ255 a Hi-Beat 36000 GMT.
A brand started in 2007, and I feel a bit left out that I never heard about them until recently. Looking at their timepieces, the engravings on them are not only incredible but also have a lot rich history attached behind them. A brand that was started by Dion Wynyard McAsey and then teamed up with an incredible engraver Andrew Biggs to further elevate this brand to provide unique watches that will be almost impossible to replicate. To be honest I first noticed this brand when I was browsing on Twitter, and honestly what drawn me to them was their incredible attention to detail on their casebacks. When you think of Kickstarter you would most likely think about the massive array of scam projects or maybe I am just cynical, so to see a brand born out of Kickstarter and not only be genuine but continue to make some incredible watches it deserves a lot of praise. Nomos has released a lot of great watches this year, with some watches such as the Autobahn Director’s Cut which had Nomos take sportier approach compared to their usual watches. While this new reveal sees Nomos go back to their original line up and make a few changes that I am sure a lot of fans would love. The two new watches that have been revealed are the Orion 33 gold and the Orion 38 silver.
