$1,000 to $2,000 Watches Buying Guide

Top 5 Watches Between $1,000 to $2,000

Consider these watches as minor upgrades from the previous recommendations, as you get more accurate movements and brands with a lot more history. This is usually the price point for a nice gift or finding the next watch to add to the collection. These watches are just my own personal recommendations and all prices are in USD.

Nomos Tangente Reference 101 ($1,900)

Nomos is well known among watch collectors and enthusiasts for its simplistic and elegant design, and the Tangente is arguably their most popular watch. At this price you get Nomos’s own in-house built alpha calibre manual movement that has a power reserve of 43 hours. While it is unfortunate that at this price range you get the stainless-steel case back however, if you do shop around you can find the sapphire case back to fully appreciate the movement at the same price or even cheaper. You do have to manually wind it every 2 days which is simply done through turning the crown. It features tempered blue steel hands that contrast beautifully with the white silver-plated galvanized dial. It comes paired with Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan black leather strap.

Sinn 104 St Sa I B ($1,400)

An excellent divers watch from a company known to make extremely reliable and robust watches. You get a reliable Sellita SW220-1 automatic movement and the watch is water resistant to 200m. This particular watch comes with a blue sunburst dial and features a unique bezel that unlike most divers can only be turned one way this bezel can be turned in both directions. You get sapphire crystal on both the dial and the case back and features lume on the hour markers, hands and 12 o’clock marker on the bezel. While you could list a lot of different watches from Sinn at this price range, this is one of my favourite divers purely cause of that incredible blue sunburst dial.

Hamilton Khaki Aviation Pilot Day Date Auto ($1,045)

This is Hamilton’s aviation watch which is indicated through that dial design, however this is not a watch for small wrists as it comes at a case size of 46mm which is massive compared to the average watch. It features the H-30 automatic movement that has a power reserve of 80 hours and can be seen through the case back of the watch as well. It features sapphire crystal on both the dial as well as the case back and despite being an aviation watch it has a water resistance of 200m. It comes in a stainless-steel case and also features a stainless-steel bracelet and the dial design is based on the design of cockpit instruments.

Baume & Mercier Classima 10329 ($1,850)

Baume & Mercier are known for their extremely elegant and classy watches and this one is no exception. You get a 31mm case size and the centre of the dial features a moon phase function. The moon-phase complication shows the cycle of the moon which makes one rotation every lunar month. It features roman numerals on the four main numbers, and the other hour markers are set with diamonds. This watch is set against a silver dial with a sun-satin finish and comes paired with a glossy blue alligator strap. Given the complexity of the moon phase and the low price point it understandably comes with a quartz movement.

Rado Centrix Diamonds ($1,200)

When it comes to elegant lady’s dress watches Rado should always be in your radar as it comes from a well-established brand. It comes in a case size of 23mm and features a quartz movement, however no would notice the movement as it does not feature a seconds hand like a true dress watch. It comes in case made out of stainless steel and is only 6.1mm thick and also features sapphire crystal. It features diamonds on the 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock hour markers which lights up beautifully against the black dial. The stainless-steel bracelet is in black and silver that contrasts beautifully with the black dial and silver hands.
