Nomos has released a lot of great watches this year, with some watches such as the Autobahn Director’s Cut which had Nomos take sportier approach compared to their usual watches. While this new reveal sees Nomos go back to their original line up and make a few changes that I am sure a lot of fans would love. The two new watches that have been revealed are the Orion 33 gold and the Orion 38 silver.

The Orion 38 Silver Reference 379 showcases an incredible white silver-plated dial that’s galvanized which gives an incredible look depending on how the light is reflected upon it. Contrasted incredibly with the gold-plated hands as well as the hour markers. As the name suggests it comes in a case size of 38mm and has a thickness of only 8.9mm. As per usual with their watches you do have the choice of purchasing the stainless-steel case back version for cheaper, or option in for the domed sapphire crystal glass back to be able to view the movement. The movement is Nomos’s own Calibre Alpha manual movement that has a power reserve of up to 43 hours. It comes paired with a Velour anthracite leather strap and the watch also features domed sapphire crystal on the dial. The small seconds dial features small grooves that stands out from the rest of the watch.

The Orion 33 Gold Reference 359 instead showcases a gold-plated dial that is polished and galvanized, giving it a beautiful look that reflects incredibly against the light. The hour indices and hands are rhodium-plated and faceted that in the light often appears gold, while in reality it is actually silver in closer detail. It comes in a case size of 33mm which makes it a perfect choice for smaller wrists or women and is only 8.5mm thick. Just as the previous one it is powered by the same Alpha manual movement that has a power reserve of 43 hours. Unlike the previous watch it comes paired with a grey velour leather strap. The small seconds dial also features the exact same small grooves that makes it stand out a lot more compared to the rest of the dial.

My one gripe with both watches is that instead of opting for a small rhodium-plated and faceted 6 o’clock hour marker, they instead have added this gold dot. I understand that with other Orion watches this is same style of hour marker used at the 6 o’clock position but this is just my own personal annoyance. Regardless, these are some incredible watches, and it would be nice to see the same style used for their Ludwig range. Both watches are available through Nomos’s online store and you can also add a complimentary engraving to the case back. Click here to go to their online store.
