Omega is the official timekeeper for the Olympic Games so it makes sense that they will release another watch to commemorate the event. When it comes to nature inspired dials, Grand Seiko should be at the top of the list when it comes to other watchmakers. It is nice to see that other watch manufacturers have decided to go this route and take inspiration from nature just like this Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Beijing 2022 where it has an ice textured dial.
The dial of this watch is made out of white ceramic and has a special frosted finish pattern with a date display. To further accentuate the ice dial Omega has paired the dial with blue hour markers and hands. The design is almost very similar to the Grand Seiko Snowflake where everyone loves that blue second hand paired with snowflake inspired dial. There are some red accents on the dial, the word “Seamaster” under the Omega logo as well as the 15th, 30th, 45th and 60th minute markers on the outer minutes track.
The watch is powered by their Omega Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8900 automatic movement with has a power reserve of 60 hours, but this will not be seen as it has “Beijing 2022” and the Olympics logo against a grainy steel case back. The case is made out of stainless steel with a case diameter of 41mm and comes paired with a domed sapphire crystal. The watch is also water resistant to 150m and also features anti-magnetic properties and is also Master Chronometer Certified. There is also a time zone function which allows the hour hand to be adjusted to different time zones without stopping the watch and there is also a date window at the 6 o’clock position replacing the hour marker.
While this watch could be considered the Swiss Snowflake in direct reference to Grand Seiko’s SBGA211 Snowflake, if you prefer a busier dial this watch will definitely at the top of your list. While if you prefer a more dress style elegant watch you would probably go with the Grand Seiko SBGA211 Snowflake but there is no denying that both are excellent watches. This is easily one of the best watches Omega has released this year and is definitely going to be a fan favourite. This watch is available through authorised dealers and online through Omega for $6,200
