Three new NOMOS Autobahn Director’s Cut Limited Editions

In 2018, NOMOS launched the Autobahn line with a brand-new design made with Werner Aisslinger. From the classic sleek and minimalistic look they are known for, to a brand-new design that one would normally not expect from NOMOS. These watches had a luminous ring in the middle of the watch that is to represent the lit-up display on the dashboard of the car driving at night.

These three new watches are limited edition and under the Autobahn line called the Director’s Cut. They are named A9 (black and grey), A3 (white and orange), and the A7 (blue and yellow) each named after German highways and the colours are chosen since they are Aisslinger’s favourite colours. Another striking detail from this watch would be the watch bracelet which was also designed by Werner Aisslinger. While the bracelet might not be to everyone’s taste, luckily it is an easy change, the bracelet has 4 circular cut-outs two on either side which are then combined with a fine link bracelet.

The cases are made out on stainless steel and they have bipartite domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating and comes in a case size of 41mm. Each dial besides the small seconds sub dial and the elongated date window under the subdial, the ring on the dial is luminous with blue luminescence superluminova on all three watches. The case back of the watches shows the automatic DUW 6101 movement that has a power reserve of 42 hours. The back of the watch also has a limited edition engraving with “Autbahn . Director’s Cut . Limited Edition . (Model Number) . 1/175.” All three watches are also water resistant to 100m which should be good for swimming. However, I doubt many people will take this watch swimming as each watch is only limited to 175 pieces worldwide.

The autobahn is not for everyone especially from the NOMOS brand as they are known for the minimalistic and classy approach but it is nice that they are trying out new things in collaboration with other designers. The Autobahn has made itself a distinct watch line with NOMOS and these three new watches are no exception to that. As mentioned previously all three are limited to 175 each and are priced at $4,800 and while they are sold out online there still might be a chance to get one through an authorised retailer.
