When someone thinks about pens and watches one brand most people would recognise is Mont Blanc, however this time one of the most highly revered brands Caran d’Ache has partnered with Carl F. Bucherer and made the limited edition Manero Flyback Signature. Unlike the very serious and classical tone of the chronograph this partnership has sparked a more colourful and casual look for the watch.

Caran d’Ache is a Swiss manufacturing company first established in 1915, that produces art materials and writing instruments. With this partnership whoever purchases this watch will also get a Caran d’Ache Signature rollerball pen. The pen is made out of F. Rhodium and silver coating and has a deep “crown effect” engraving. While the watch initially comes paired with a NATO 100% recycled PET with calfskin with a beige/red/grey colourway, you also get the same type of NATO strap with a blue colourway.

The case of the watch is 43mm and is 14.45mm thick made out of stainless steel and has double-domed sapphire crystal on both sides of the watch. The case back of the watch features an exhibition window where you can see the CFB 1970 automatic movement that has a power reserve of 42 hours. Around the exhibition window it features the number of the watch you get out of 188 and is also water resistance to 30m. While it is a chronograph the main change and appeal of the watch is that the indices are rainbow coloured which contrasts beautifully with the silver-coloured dial.

This partnership has changed the very classic tone of the watch to this brand new relaxed and colourful appeal, and while it may not be to everyone’s taste it is definitely a great partnership and hopefully continues in the future. It will also be interesting to see if Caran d’Ache partners with other watch brands in the future as this was definitely a success in my opinion. As of now this watch is only limited to 188 pieces worldwide and is priced at $7,200.
