$2,000 to $5,000 Watches Buying Guide

$2,000 to $5,000 Watches 2020

If you are looking at watches and this is your budget you probably already either have a good idea of what you want, or you are overwhelmed with the choices you have. Disregarding the higher end luxury watches such as Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin you still have access to some amazing watches. Again, these are just some of my personal opinions, and definitely do your own research into finding the watch you would like to own. All prices are in USD.

Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch ($3500+)

At this price range I simply cannot avoid this watch, you can get a brand new Omega Speedmaster Pro anywhere up from $3,500 and it is well worth the price. You will not be able to get any of the special edition watches from Omega at this price range but you can still get their base model. I use the phrase “base model” very lightly here. It has great history not only with the manufacturer but also with Apollo missions and this watch has been recommended pretty much by everyone. You can dress this watch down or up depending on the strap you choose and it still works amazingly well. It is a chronograph and comes in a 42mm case size and for smaller wrists you can get the Omega Speedmaster Reduced. Keep in mind there is quite a few variations of this watch so you can get both either hesalite or sapphire crystal. I would personally recommend sapphire just for that added safety. The sapphire crystal version also comes with an exhibition case back where you can fully appreciate the manual movement. The Omega Seamaster Diver 300m is available too at this price range if you are looking at a diver from Omega that is equally as incredible as the Speedmaster Pro.

Nomos Tangente 38 Reference 164 ($2,330)

This watch is in my opinion the best Bauhaus style watch you can buy. At this price you can get the sapphire crystal case back as well so you can see the amazing in house movement by Nomos. The case comes in at 38mm and also has a small seconds sub dial. You can choose a variation of sub dials or have nothing at all it is entirely up to you, this particular model is just my personal preference. It comes with incredible blue hour hands that works astonishingly well with the white dial. The finish on the watch is incredible and for the price it is definitely worth it. It comes with a manual movement with a power reserve of up to 43 hours, and from their own website it states you only need to wind it once every two days. If you are a fan of Bauhaus style of watches, then this watch is definitely what you should go for.

Nomos Tangente 38 Reference 164

Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight M79030b-0002 ($4,580 but can be found for cheaper)

This is my personal favourite diver style watch. The model I am referring to has a blue dial and an incredible blue bezel that depending on the light can change the look and colour of the bezel from a light to dark blue. The same goes for the dial and if I had the choice for getting a diver style watch this will always be my first pick. Now that my bias is out of the way, the case comes in at 39mm and an automatic movement with a power reserve of an incredible 70 hours. It is water-resistant to 200m and features a unidirectional rotating bezel. It comes with a domed sapphire crystal and the model I chose includes their own blue “soft touch” strap which I think compliments the watch perfectly.

Rado Centrix Automatic Diamonds 28 mm ($3,500)

A ladies watch that comes factory set with a diamond bezel as well as diamond hour markers, totalling 60 diamonds at 0.216 carats. It comes with an automatic movement with a power reserve of 38 hours and sapphire crystal as well as an exhibition case back so you can watch the movement. It comes in a black dial creating a perfect elegant look and is water resistant to 30m. Also at 76grams this watch comes in extremely light and for what you are getting I will say this watch is definitely worth some time looking in to.

Breitling Superocean Automatic 36 A17316D21A1S1 ($3,475)

The totally opposite spectrum to the Rado as this watch was designed to be much more of a tool watch. This watch comes in a diver watch style with a unidirectional rotating bezel and comes in a case size of 36mm. This particular model comes in all white with a rubber strap that matches the colour of the dial or a stainless-steel bracelet depending on how you want it. The stainless-steel bracelet version will run a bit more expense at $3,950. However, in my opinion the rubber strap suits this watch a lot better than stainless-steel. It has a water resistance of 200m with a power reserve of 38 hours. The watch you are getting at this price as well as the manufacturers brand and reputation is second to none, especially with the versatility you can get with this watch.
